BEAUTIFYING YOUR PERFECT CHRISTMAS TREE

Beautifying Your Perfect Christmas Tree

There are so many entertaining ways to decorate a tree. You can really do whatever you want these days: so many fun ideas and different themes. You can never go wrong with red and white for Christmas, and that’s what I’ve been doing for the last couple of years. I love going to small shops around town or exploring my local nursery to find decorating ideas and entertaining ornaments.

Fluff that Tree!!

Fluffing the tree is my least favorite thing about decorating the tree! I really suck at this part and should probably work on this skill a bit more! LOL. But this is such an essential first step. The more you fluff, the better. I have been known to put on gloves, so I don’t scratch up my hands. Actually, my Balsam Hill tree came with a pair of gloves.

Adding Ribbon on the Christmas Tree

Beautifying Your Perfect Christmas Tree

Ribbons are great to add to your tree, they add a lot of visual interest and texture to your tree. I don’t usually put ribbon on my Christmas tree, I’ve always been a bit intimidated about it, truthfully.
I’ve been on Pinterest researching how to do this. I know I was overthinking the ribbon step and realized I just needed to get busy and go for it.

I found this cute, playful ribbon at Michael’s that was 40% off, so I thought this is the year I will try adding ribbon to my tree! Also, I found some ribbon at Costco. They have tons of options at a great price. Since my tree is 15′ tall, I cut my strips into 36″ sizes. I started from the top (which is a bit scary) and zig-zagged my way down the tree. I tucked the ribbon toward the tree’s center and secured it by twisting one of the small branches around the ribbon. I’m sure I have lots of room for improvement, but this is what I’m going with this year. Please don’t overthink this process as I did. It’s going to look gorgeous!

Adding Larger Ornaments and Signs

Beautifying Your Perfect Christmas Tree

I love adding large ornaments and unique items to my tree. These oversized ornaments are from a few years back, but I will link some similar ones below. Adding a cute sign or something you would typically not expect in a tree is always an excellent conversation piece. I like to tuck more oversized items into the tree and let them sit on a branch. If I do need to secure them, I will use floral wire that blends in with the tree.

Ornaments

Using ornaments of varying sizes and shapes gives the tree great contrast. Make sure to balance the tree out by placing your ornaments around the tree and staggering them. Showcase your most favorite ornaments in prime locations, and then add your filler ornaments around them.

Filler Pieces (Stems and Picks)

I believe the best way of finishing up a great tree is to add filler pieces that will take up lots of space and make your tree look nice and full. This is a must for me, and it’s a great inexpensive way to add texture to your tree.

Don’t forget to stand back every now and then to take a peek at your tree from a distance and see where you may need to add some pieces. This is when I went back and added a few more strips of ribbon.
