Spring Clean Your Skin Care Routine
Spring is a time of renewal. Now that it’s spring and almost summer, it’s time to think about your skincare products and what needs to change for the season. It’s also an excellent time to check on expiration dates to see what might need to be tossed out.
I am not a skincare specialist and don’t ever want to claim to be one, but I do know what I like for my skin and have had great success with the products that I’m going to share. Many of these products have been introduced to me by my esthetician or fellow bloggers. I have to say most of these products I have used for years! Some of my items have changed, but mostly I have added new stuff to my skincare routine as I get older. Also, as the weather turns some things like my moisturizer doesn’t feel right in the warmer weather.
Change your Spring Skincare Routine
Many times when the weather changes, so does your skin. Spring and summer bring a lot more outdoor activities, which means lots of sun exposure. It’s so important to up your SPF sunblock when you are spending a lot of time outside.
My Morning Routine
Cleanser or Toner
Here are two cleansers that I am currently using for springtime. I bounce back and forth between these two. PCA Facial Wash and EVER Foaming Cleanser.
- Hydrates and exfoliates the skin while cleansing
- Provides skin soothing properties
- Does not leave skin tight or dry after cleansing
- Deep Cleans
- Gently Exfoliates
- Anit-aging Benefits
Hyaluronic Acid Boosting Serum
I love, love, love this serum!! It’s a smoothing blend of ingredients that provides deep, long-lasting hydration. This is great for long-term anti-aging and hydration. I know it’s pricy but it lasts me at least 3 months sometimes 4. A little goes a long way.
C&E Advanced
My second favorite is this vitamin C & E serum. This formula diminishes dark spots, soothes irritated skin, and reduces signs of aging. Again it’s a bit pricy but sooo worth it!
GLOWTION Brightening Gel
Quattro Peptide Face & Eye Serum
This helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles and feels so good going on. It smooths expression lines around the eyes, mouth, and face while reducing the appearance of wrinkles.
Use a Lighter Moisturizer
Think about transitioning to lighter, water-based skin care products.
Hyaluronic acid-or water-based formula is best when the weather warms up.
I jump back and forth between two moisturizers. Sometimes when I feel I need a little extra moisture I will use Après Peel but generally, in the summer I use ReBalance It’s a light moisturizer that hydrates, calms, and soothes normal to sensitive skin.
Finish up with Sunscreen
Don’t forget to finish with sunscreen. I have used several brands and feel like the Jan Marini works best for me. It is lightweight and doesn’t feel thick on your face. It has water-resistant, broad-spectrum UVA and UVB protection, and it smells great too!
Evening Routine
I’m usually too lazy at night to wash my face so I just use a Neutrogena cleansing wipe. I know it’s not the best, but then I add some other products to make up for it. lol
I love these Reveal peel pads! They gently remove dead skin cells to help clear and reduce the visibility of pores and the appearance of spots. It smooths and re-texturize the surface of your skin without irritation.
Then I finish up with the Overnight Facial This retinol oil fights visible signs of aging. Works to help smooth, tighten, and firm the appearance of skin. And in the morning my face feels marvelous!! I am obsessed with this stuff.
I know this seems like a ton of products, but they are all so important! Also, I know it can be very pricey, especially to buy everything at one time. If you’re not using a skincare routine, I can’t stress enough how important it is! Start with a few products and add to your routine as you can. I would recommend a cleanser and moisturizer, and SUNBLOCK for starters. It doesn’t hurt to have a good esthetician as well, there are so many great ones out there!
Spring Clean your Skincare Shelf
Throwing Away Expired Products
It’s said that you should throw out anything over six months old, but honestly check the expiration dates and make sure you are not putting anything “old” on your face. You don’t want any buildup of bacteria clogging your pores!
Don’t forget to get way back in that cabinet or shelf and pull out all that old stuff that you haven’t used for years… you know what I’m talking about!
Makeup Brushes and Sponges
Don’t forget washing your makeup brushes and sponges is a must! They can build up hard-to-see grime and bacteria. Gently wash your brushes with a natural cleanser and lay them flat to dry. This should be done at least every few months, not just for spring cleaning.
Let me know if you have any questions about my spring skin care routine. I would love to answer them!
Cheers, Stephanie
