For those who have never tried an airbrush tan, I’m sure the first thought is orange streaks all over your body… not true! The concept of a customize airbrush tan is starting to change the world of tanning. Spray tanning is a form of self-tanning (or sunless tanning) where a fine mist is sprayed onto your body.
The results you can get from spray tanning are generally very good. Many celebrities and models prefer spray tanning to just about anything else to get the color they want.
Back in the day (the 80’s), getting the best tan was all the rage, (and I think still is). If we weren’t covering ourselves with baby oil in the summer, we were at the tanning booth during the winter trying to get our best bronze on. Skip ahead to now, and boy I wish I was told to “put some sunblock on!!”
Spray tanning was introduced to me in in early 2000’s, it is so quick and easy and I wanted to share this short post on how I go about it.
Why spray tanning is so good
An airbrush tan has the ability to send a rush of confidence that you’ve never felt before. Making any outfit look its best with your glowing skin.
People sometimes say to me “Wow, you look so tan, where have you been?” Usually my response is “Thanks, it’s a spray tan!”
An airbrush tan doesn’t discriminate against any body type, shape or shade of skin. Everybody deserves to feel the confidence that can be gained just from a little sun kissed glow.
Here in 2019, the world of airbrush tanning is more of a movement than anything. We will finally tan safely. Tanning bed effects will be no more and we can lower the risk of melanoma. Imagine if an airbrush tan could stop someone from sunbathing and save them from the potential of getting cancer. The benefits to an airbrush tan can be life-changing.
Where I go for spray tanning!
I have been to a few of the spray tan booths, and that was fine, but after I discovered Amy from Amy’s Airbrush Tanning, I don’t think I will ever go back to a booth!
My girl Amy is awesome! She is the sweetest thing ever and makes you feel so comfortable while you are standing in your bare necessities. lol Wear any garments you would like during the tan. From shorts to a swim suit to underwear to absolutely nothing do whatever makes you feel comfortable!
At Amy’s Airbrush Tanning, she customizes the color to exactly what your skin needs. Her products are all organic products and she applies the tan by hand with an airbrush gun to make sure it’s an even and safe tan. I usually have her try to avoid my face. I feel like my age spots like to come out more after a spray tan so I just have her stay clear of my face also I always have make-up on my face so I’m not worried about color there.
Amy has a spray tan in a can, so if you need a little pick me up in between appointments you can use this for a touch up. It’s perfect! Also it dries quicker than many other self tanning products.
Before I spray tan
Before I go in for my spray tan I make sure I exfoliate my skin. I just use some body wash and a loofah sponge. Don’t wear any heavy lotions, deodorant or make up. Be sure to bring loose, dark clothing to wear after and avoid getting wet until you shower the next morning. I usually try to go in the evening then head home and put my jammies on.
When you go in, Amy will talk to you about how you want your tan to look and then will choose the perfect shade for your skin tone. The appointment only takes about 15 minutes. It is very fast!
After she is done spraying you Amy will gently wipe down your hands and feet to avoid staining. Usually when I get home I will go over my feet again just to make sure they don’t get stained or dark looking. Moisturizing heavily with NUDE or any water based lotion will help the tan last longer and fade evenly.
Mobile Parties are also an option! Bridal parties or just for a girls night in!
How much does a spray tan cost?
The price of spray tanning varies from location to location. Not only in your state, but also within your own city! In general, a single spray tan session at a salon can costs between $20 and $50. Amy charges $40 for one tan but also has packages. The more tans you buy the less expensive it is.
So it’s just that easy!! My tan usually last about 10 days then I’m ready to do it all over again.
One more thing I forgot to mention, don’t freak out when you get in the shower the next day and it looks like your spry tan is going down the drain!! It’s not, so no worries. You will be glowing!
