Game Day Potato Bar

Football season is in full swing, and so are all the yummy game-day foods!

It’s football season!! Yay! I don’t necessarily love football or understand it much, but I love everything that goes with football. Beautiful crisp days, baking something in the kitchen, getting together with family and friends, and supporting my local sports team. Go Hawks!!

Game Day Potato Bar food

For the game last week, I put together this yummy potato bar, and it was a hit! It’s super easy to pull together and requires little prep work. You can make these potatoes ahead of time and then keep them warm in a slow cooker until you’re ready to eat.

Preparing your Potato

Make sure to scrub the potatoes thoroughly to get any hidden dirt. I like to eat the skin, so I make sure they are cleaned well. Poke a few holes in each potato, so they do not burst. This can happen, and it’s not fun cleaning up the mess. Drizzle with a small amount of cooking oil and sprinkle with sea salt—Bake at 400 degrees for approximately 50 minutes. (Time will depend on the size of the potato). When you can stick a knife smoothly through the potato, you know it’s done.
Do not wrap in foil if you want crispy skins on the outside.

Little Prep Work

This potato bar took very little prep work. I made up the chili the night before and cooked the bacon the night before as well for the bacon bits. I didn’t add taco meat this time but I would make this in advance also. All other ingredient I put in small dishes and refrigerated until serving time. The steak bites were an added topping that my daughter brought over, they were so delicious and a great addition.

This is such an easy way to feed a crowd and low maintenance. Also with most of the prep work done in advance, you have time to watch the game as well!

This is also a great meal to plan when you have a pumpkin carving night with the family!

So get creative and have a little fun choosing all the fixings for your own baked potato bar! Happy game day or whatever day you choose to serve a Baked Potato Bar.
