DIY Chenille Rag Wreath

Handmade wreaths are so fun and inexpensive to make. I had so much fun making this one with white chenille fabric to add to my Valentines’ collection.

Handmade wreaths are an inexpensive way to change your decor throughout the seasons. I bought the wire wreath at the Dollar Store and ordered my chenille from Amazon. If you’re into thrifting I’m sure you could find an old chenille bedspread for super cheap.

Materials

There are just a few inexpensive items you need for this sweet project. First, I’m sure you will have these two items lying around your home, fabric scissors and a tape measure. The most expensive thing was the fabric. I didn’t have time to hit a thrift store, so I bought mine on Amazon. Otherwise, if you have time to go thrift shopping or garage sale-ing, you may find a great deal on some fabric. I purchased the wire wreath at the dollar store.

I ripped one-inch pieces of fabric. If you cut it right, it rips down the whole length of the material. Then, I cut the one-inch strips into 6-inch pieces. (it doesn’t have to be precisely 6 inches; just get close) I think I used about 2 yards of fabric.

My wire wreath had four different sections; I started in the middle and worked my way to the outside. I really don’t think it matters where you start. Pull the fabric through the wire and make one knot. Don’t do two knots; that makes it too thick.

So just keep tying your knots all the way around the wreath. I think this took me a couple of hours. This project is so easy, you can sit and watch your favorite show and tie away!!

I think I’m going to see what fun Easter fabric colors I can find and make one for Easter! The possibilities are endless! I may do one for every holiday!!! lol
