Getaway to San Francisco

My husband and I were able to take a very quick getaway to San Francisco last month and I wanted to share all the fun stuff we were able to pack into a two-day trip.

The Westin St. Francis on Union Square

We stayed at the beautiful Westin St Francis, it’s just minutes from San Francisco attractions, shopping, and entertainment. This hotel is spectacular!

Room View/Union Square

All of the guestrooms feature the Heavenly® Bed, as well as Westin signature amenities. This was a beautiful hotel to stay in and we had a great view of Union Square.

Our room had gorgeous features such as a beautiful chandelier and a marble bathroom with the most heavenly bed.

The Westin St. Francis opened its doors in 1904 and has been a San Francisco landmark ever since.

This hotel is known as a hub of social and business activity. And it has some great restaurants to choose from. I especially loved visiting Chateau Montelena Tasting Room for a few sips of their lovely wine.

China Town & Lombard Street

We walked from our hotel in Union Square to China Town and then on to Lombard Street. It was a fun walk and cool to see all the different architecture. We stopped along the way for lunch and then ice cream!! If you are walking, make sure to wear comfy shoes and be prepared for a lot of stairs and hill climbing.

China Town

One of the oldest and most established Chinatowns in the U.S. This town is a busy neighborhood with shops, restaurants, and markets. It was very vibrant and fun to walk through. We didn’t spend a ton of time in Chinatown so I would love to go back and explore this interesting town more.

Lombard Street

Famous for it’s steep, one-block section with eight hairpin turns. This street is very popular in San Francisco. There was a constant flow of cars going down this one-way street. We walked along the street and watched all the cars trekking down. It had a beautiful path along the street with gorgeous gardens and a fabulous view of the water and city.

Ice Cream Stop

We stopped along our walk at this little ice cream parlor, Swensen’s.

Not sure exactly where we were at this point along our walk but here is a look at how many steps and hills are in San Francisco!

San Francisco Cable Car

By the time we got down to Fishermans Warf, we were pretty much done with walking. So we decided to catch a trolly car, which so happened to drop us off right in front of Saint Francis. The cable car ride was fun and we were able to see even more of the city.

Charmaine’s Rooftop Bar & Lounge

Charmaine’s is a fun, energetic rooftop bar that has a great vibe and a beautiful view. Hubby had to work the next day so we had a quick bite and called it a night. I can’t wait to go back to this hoppin’ bar.

Golden Gate Bridge

We decided to take a road trip to the Golden Gate Bridge. It was a perfect day for this. The last time I was here we went to the bridge but there was so much fog it was really hard to see. So this was a great surprise that we could see the San Francisco skyline and Alcatraz. I have never been to Alcatraz but that is on my list for next time.

Sausalito California

After we viewed the Golden Gate Bridge we decided to drive to Sausalito for some lunch and a little shopping. This is the cutest little town and I wish I had more time to explore! I will be back.

Sausalito Lunch Spot

We stopped for lunch with a view of the marina at Salito’s Crab House. We had a great view and some yummy lunch before we had to catch a flight back to Seattle.

16th Ave. Tiled Steps

We had a little time to kill before our flight so we made one last stop. I heard that these steps were really cool and had to see them.

The 16th Ave tiled steps was a neighborhood collaboration to connect neighbors in a community project. The design is made up of 163 mosaic panels in the design of sea to stars going up 163 steps.

The beautiful gardens on the side of the steps are made up of native California plants and succulents. When you reach the top of the tiled steps you turn to a magnificent view of the surrounding neighborhoods and the Ocean.

This is a great place to take some photos.

Well, I hope you enjoyed our very quick trip to San Francisco. There is always so much to see here and never enough time. I can’t wait to go back and explore more.

Cheers, Stephanie
